REGIONAL RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES

Grand Haven State Park, one of the most heavily used parks in the state park system, is located within the City of Grand Haven. This facility has 2500 feet of Lake Michigan frontage and covers 48 acres. It offers 170 camping sites and pier fishing.

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park is primarily located in Muskegon County, but approximately 250 acres of the park extends into the northwest corner of Spring Lake Township. This park covers approximately 1,043 acres, has 12,900 feet of Lake Michigan frontage and 333 camping sites. It serves as home for the Michigan Sand Dune Interpretive Center. Although there are 15 miles of hiking trails associated with the park, less than one mile extends into Ottawa County. Since there is no Ottawa County access point for entrance into the park, Tri-Cities area residents must drive to Norton Shores in order to use this facility.

Oak Ridge Golf Club is an 18-hole publicly playable facility located at Pontaluna Rd. and Black Creek Rd. in the City of Norton Shores, approximately 4 miles from the City of Ferrysburg.

Grand Haven Golf Club is an 18-hole course located five miles south of Grand Haven. During the winter, the course is open for cross-country skiing.

Terra Verde Golf Club is an 18-hole course located five miles east of Spring Lake. During the winter, the course is open for cross-country skiing.

Tri-Cities YMCA is located in Grand Haven and is open to the public for a membership fee. Facilities there include a gymnasium, 25-meter indoor swimming pool, jogging track, 5 racquetball courts, weight lifting equipment, exercise equipment, and locker/shower rooms. Membership currently stands at approximately 4,000 people.

Mulligan’s Hollow, a City of Grand Haven-owned facility, operated by the Tri-Cities YMCA, is a small downhill ski hill, served by a rope tow, in the City of Grand Haven. This site also contains an ice rink and imagination station play area.

Norton Pines Health Club is a membership fitness center located in the City of Norton Shores (Muskegon County) on Judson Road east of Grand Haven Road. Facilities include free weights and weight machines, basketball and racquet courts, swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, tennis courts and 2 soccer fields under inflatable structures.
