Park System

The Ferrysburg Park System includes a soccer field, ball diamonds, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts.  The sand dunes at Coast Guard Park and the Kitchel/Lindquist Dunes Preserve offer hiking trails and, in the winter, sledding and cross-country skiing.  Open year-round. No entrance fees.

Park Locations:
  • Coast Guard Park - North Shore Road, 1 mile west of 174th Avenue.

  • William Montague Ferry Park - Pine Street at the Spring Lake Bridge.

  • Fire Barn Park - North Shore Road at 174th Avenue.

  • Kitchel/Lindquist Dunes Preserve - North Shore Drive at Berwyck Street.

  • Pine Street/West Spring Lake Road Bike Path - Along Spring Lake's west shore, starts at William Montague Ferry Park and ends near Van Wagoner Road.

  • Ferrysburg Nature Preserve - The L-Shaped 43 acres is bordered to the east by Dogwood Drive, to the south by Mohawk Drive, to the west by Hiawatha Drive and to the north by the Spring Lake township border. The park consists of 43 acres of undeveloped dune property.  The site is a public accessible, green-space preserve.  The future land use plan states the future land use should focus on passive and non-invasive recreation so as to minimize land disturbance. The Recreation Committee has recommended that no improvements be made to the site at this time.
