Welcome to the new City of Ferrysburg web site.  We hope you enjoy learning about our dynamic and unique West Michigan community.  With frontage on Lake Michigan, the Grand River, Spring Lake, and Smith's Bayou, the quality of life in Ferrysburg is second to none!

Settled in 1834 by Rev. William M. Ferry, Ferrysburg played an important role in the sawmill industry.  Over the next 75 years, other significant industrial developments located in Ferrysburg, such as Johnston Boilers, Construction Materials Corporation sand mining, and an aggregate plant.  All three of these industries are still vital components of our community.

Ferrysburg incorporated as a city in 1963 and is now home to approximately 3,040 people.  It sits nestled between several bodies of water, creating a relaxed, beach town atmosphere.  Our community spans an area of 3.14 square miles, much of which contains breathtaking fresh water sand dunes.

Most of the folks living in Ferrysburg would refer to it as a bedroom community to larger surrounding cities.  This allows our residents and businesses to enjoy the comforts of a small town, yet also benefit from the entertainment, employment, and cultural opportunities offered by the cities of Grand Haven and Grand Rapids.

We hope that this web site will provide residents, businesses, and visitors valuable and interesting information about the City of Ferrysburg.
